SFU Holds Its 12TH Global Dimension Olympiad

SFU, in partnership with The Rotary Club Makati – Salcedo, held the preliminaries of the annual Global Dimensions Olympiad (GDO) competitive exam on November 12, 2011. One hundred four (104) participants from 26 schools participated in the said event. The GDO scholarship is granted to young achievers graduating from public and private high schools all over the country. 

Asian Psychological Services and Assessment Corporation (APSA) facilitated the examination which covered topics in English, Mathematics and Science. The School of Hospitality Management and School of Business and Computing will grant scholarships to those who obtain the General Point Average (GPA) of 85% and above. Courses eligible for the scholarship program are as follows: Professional Chef, Professional Hotelier, Professional Restaurateur, Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Computer Science. 

The final leg of the GDO is scheduled on February 11, 2012, where the top six schools will compete for the Championship title. Scholarship grants await the winning students, while their schools will receive a number of prizes. The ultimate winners will receive twenty thousand (P20,000) cash prize for their school and the participants will get a scholarship grant and certificate. Meanwhile, the reward for second place will be fifteen thousand (P15,000) cash prize for the school scholarship grant and certificate for the participants. The school that placed third will receive ten thousand (P10,000) cash prize along with a scholarship grant and a certificate for the participants. The reward for the fourth-ranked school will be five thousand (P5,000) cash prize, as well as a scholarship grant and certificate for the participants. The fifth place position will see a school receive three thousand (P3,000) cash prize allied to a scholarship grant and certificate for the participants. Finally, the school which is ranked sixth will be awarded two thousand (P2,000)  cash prize in addition to a scholarship grant and certificate for the participants.
