SFU 11TH Commencement Exercises

The processional march started at exactly 3pm last 09 July 2011 at the Insular Life Auditorium, Insular Life Corporate Centre, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

One of the commencement speakers was Mr. Gerald Lipman, Chief Executive of International College of Hotel Management, delivered an inspiring speech. Quoting a portion of his speech “A quick flashback to my comments in Point 1: to achieve this success you will not just need your academic knowledge, crucial as it has been to your graduation. You will need to use all your professional attitude skills, you will need to develop and improve the way you work with others.” He emphasized that team is important by using the pronoun “WE” rather than working with “I”.

Dr. Chris Marshall, Head of Department, School of Business, University of Sunderland was the second speaker. He talked about the history between University of Sunderland and SFU beyond academic ties.

Dr. Genevieve Ledesma Tan, Mr. Roger Bartholomew and Dr. Melva Diamante presented the special awards to 9 students (loyalty medals) and 5 parents received plaques of appreciation for their commitment and confidence in the curriculum of SISC and SFU. These students are Denise Aragon, Aya Mitsuhashi, Sarah Fuerte, Mandy Sanchez, Kim Yoneyama, Rae Enriquez, Mar Paulo Mante, Krischan Ramos, Kisha Roxas, and Kohji Kasahara.

Five students received College Achievement awards, namely: Tanya Ella, Clarice Sy, Jessica Delos Reyes, Celiz Embuscado, and Paul France Gatchalian. 2 students received the Distinguished Service Award, namely: Michael Briones and Czarina Aguilar.

24 students received Merit Edexcel Academic Awards and 10 students received Distinction Edexcel Academic Awards.

Jessica Delos Reyes and Regina Santos delivered the testimony speech while Tanya Ella gave the farewell speech. The event was a mixture of sadness and laughter as three graduates shared their testimonies and farewell speech.

Michael Briones led the graduates in reciting the pledge of loyalty.

After the batch pictorial and the recessional march, cocktails were served at the foyer.
