Sol Gracian Grospe

I'm doing staff rotation for my internship at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi. This helps me see and experience the whole operation of the Front Office Division. I finished 5 departments already; Concierge, Service Express and Housekeeping (Rooms, Public Area, Laundry & Coordinator), Executive Club and Courtesy Lounge.

I'm currently working in Guest Relations, basically this department works the same as the Front Office but they do more interaction with guests and more follow ups on guests' special requests etc.

SISFU offers a very unique curriculum since it only offers major subjects, from practical exams to the tough but useful assessments. I'm actually applying everything I learned from school, and also I remember a phrase that my teachers used to say- “It's not about where you come from, It's about your attitude towards the people around you; your attitude will make you stand out.” SISFU taught me to have both. The challenges of editing my assessments so many times and re-taking my practical exams… Wow! Now I understand why my Teachers did that to me. It gave me more patience and motivation to always do my best. I will forever respect all of them for that. And it only made me realize that I didn't take the wrong course because I'm enjoying my work here every single day.

This internship will help me decide on which path I would like to take after I graduate and I know I will definitely work in a hotel.
