Foreign University International School Manila Philippines - Hannah Go - Internship

I was scared, nervous and excited all at the same time when I first started my internship. I was given the opportunity to have my internship at Marriott Hotel Manila. Wherein I learned and grew a lot.

I learned things that are not taught in school, things that you experience outside your comfort zone. It was scary at first, but as time passed by, I got used to it.

During my internship I was assigned in the marketing and sales department. Where in I was taught how to do sales reports, contracts, Complimentary forms, entertaining sales calls and clients. Not only I learned those things but I also learned that Marriott is not only about selling rooms, food and services. They also sell good memories thru events. The culture in Marriott is very open and family-like; it was very warm and understanding. People working in that hotel, was very accommodating, whenever interns or their colleagues asked them something, they drop whatever they were doing to entertain the person. Marriott also takes care of their employees very. The management provides various benefits and events for the employees to be felt appreciated.

Among my classmates I was the only one that spend my internship in Marriott. Going there was a challenge for me because I didn’t know how to commute, but eventually I made some friends that were my co-interns in the same office, and they taught me how. Meeting these friends made my whole experience more memorable. Spending my internship at a five star hotel made me thought that everyday was stressful and busy. But as my internship continues it made me realize that even everyday was busy and stressful, people were still able to smile, have fun and relax. This internship experience showed a peak of the future.

Overall I can say that I had a wonderful internship experience. I was able to meet amazing people and brilliant host. Learning different things from this experience and its processes, gave me an edge that I can use when it is my turn to find a job. I will surely use and treasure things that I learned from my Marriott Manila internship.
