An SFU Halloween: The Haunting

Last October 31, 2012, SFU’s Student Council, together with the Computer Society, organized a Halloween Event for year 2012 called The Haunting at SFU.

Planning for the event began in early October and it was successfully launched on the eve of Halloween. The collaboration between the Student Council and the Computer Society overshot their target fund collection and the overall planning was, for Business students, a practice model for corporate interdepartmental associations as each organization administered and met all individual and specific tasks necessary for the Haunting to become a success.

The Haunting at SFU was more than a typical haunted house-- participants were led through the haunted school and into rooms such as the Asylum, the Haunted Theatre and the Exorcism. In each room, the guests had to find a hidden note and escape with it.  The participants were given 3 lives for the game which were represented by small candles attached to their arms. The goal was to get the notes from different rooms without losing the candles. If they failed to do so, upon losing all three candles, they were automatically disqualified.

The event lasted for three hours but already remains in the participants’ memories for many sleepless nights to come. Thanks to the council, the clubs, the committees and all participants for a thrilling event!
