Another school year has passed, a new one has begun, and SFU has raised the bar of excellence once again. Gearing up for the upcoming school year, SFU, aided by the Student Council, conducted its annual College Preparatory Program (CPP) for the incoming freshmen students to prepare them for the challenges of college life.

Unlike the CPPs before, the program was quite different this year, having changed the manner how lectures were delivered and the grouping system of students. The students were grouped as a plenary for the efficient delivery of lectures. There were discussions on following the proper dress code and understanding the assessment and grading system. Students were also given tips on how to enhance learning in class and were oriented about the different school departments and facilities. In order to create a fun-filled atmosphere during games and team-building activities, however, they were grouped into the 4 SFUn Day colors: Blue, Maroon, Gold, and Silver. Students stood out in their groups as they showcased their leadership skills, talents and antics. The activities such as the amazing race; games like the divisible name, talent show, and the like paved way to more fun and exciting bonding experience for the freshmen students.

With the CPP 2012-2013 becoming a success, SFU has definitely given the freshmen students a taste of what college life will be. This would not be possible if it wasn’t for the support of Dr. Melva Diamante, the head of the School of Hospitality, Ms. Carol Pido, the dean of the School of Business and Computing, Ms. Natascha Lamb, the efforts of Mr. Gary Smith and Ms. Yvette Bautista, the faculty and staff of SFU, and as well as the Student Council and the Student Auxiliary Corps. Again, we give a warm welcome to the freshmen students and may this school year be fun and exciting for all of you!
