On the 30th of May, the members of SJFE, along with Ms. Suzette Bongalosa and Mr. Louie Angelo Reyes, had the privilege of attending one of the most highly anticipated investment seminars in the country. Being the third of its kind, ICON 2015 aims to educate its participants from different walks of life the basics of personal finance, different investment practices, as well as the recent market updates.
By discussing the different types of investments, the participants will be able to gauge and determine which is the best suited for them.
This year, the seminar featured well-known speakers and pioneers in their respective fields. Mr. Randell Tiongson, a columnist and the author of the best-selling book "Money Manifesto", was the first speaker. He talked about balancing finances and factors that we have to consider first before investing – pointing out why now is the best time to invest in the Philippines, such as having a strong infrastructure development and the continuous growth of the OFW and BPO sectors.

Aside from Mr. Tiongson, other speakers include some of the biggest advocates in finance such as inspirational speaker and author of "Only the Real Matters", Francis Kong, who enumerated autonomy, mastery, and the having a sense of purpose as the motivation for winners. Author of "Stock Smarts",as well as a registered financial planner consultant, Marvin Germo also gave an overview of the essentials in investing in the stock market. The author of "Till Debt Do Us Part and radio host of Chink+, Chinkee Tan, discussed that having lack of knowledge, fear, and greed are the top 3 reasons why entrepreneurs and investors fail.
