FAQs

Q.1 : When will face-to-face teaching resume on campus?

A: The government has not yet released final guidance on when face-to-face teaching will be permitted to resume. As AY 20-21 draws to a close and vaccines start becoming available in the country throughout 2021, we anticipate further guidance.

Q.2 : I am currently an international student nominally studying on campus in SISFU. What will happen to my current student visa if I decide to study online and either stay in the Philippines or go back home overseas?

A: For the latest information about Student Visas, please visit http://immigration.gov.ph/ or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
An ECC is issued to temporary visitors who have stayed in the country for more than six months, and to holders of residence, work, or students visas who wish to leave the country for good.

For international students who have gone back to their home countries, classes and final assessments will be delivered and made available online.

Q.3 : I am a student currently on Industry Placement (WIL). What is happening with me?

A: You have already been contacted by your Dean and/or Head of Industry Placement are they are ready and willing to assist you with your current placement. If you have not checked your email or mobile phone, check it now!

Q.4 : Will the current tuition fee increase or decrease or stay the same as a result of all classes now going online?

A: Tuition fees will remain the same and will not change for the remainder of AY 2020-2021.

Q.5 : What happens in relation to my tuition fees if I withdraw or defer?

1. A: An officially enrolled student who leaves the University after the term has commenced shall be entitled to a refund/credit of his/her tuition fee, but not the Admin and Miscellaneous Fees. Accordingly, the refund scheme is as follows:
TUITION FEES PAID IN FULL:
First Week – 80% refund
Second Week – 50% refund
Third and Fourth Week – 25% refund
After 30 days- no refund
TUITION FEES PAID BY INSTALLMENTS:
First Week – 20 % charged
Second to Fourth Week – 50% charged
After 30 days – 100% charged and no refund
2. Any student who drops out of school during a given term due to personal reasons or is dropped due to an administrative sanction arising from an infraction of SISFU rules and regulations shall be required to settle in full his/her outstanding accounts before any school record (e.g. report card, official transcript of records, certification, etc.) can be released.

Q.6 : My Student Visa is expiring. Do I have to leave the Philippines? How could I with the quarantine?

A: For the latest information about Student Visas, please visit: http://immigration.gov.ph/ or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Extension of student visa will be processed once all government offices resume operations.

Please take note of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Announcement as of March 26:

They announced that they will temporarily be allowing holders of temporary Visitors visa, who have stayed in the country for less than one year, to acquire their Emmigration Clearance Certificates (ECCs) at the international airports.

Q.7 : I am an International Student and plan to return home to visit family over the Summer Break. Will I be able to return back to the SISFU campus for AY 2021-2022 studies?

A: At the moment this is very much an unknown. It is dependent upon what travel restrictions are set in place during the time of your planned trip. Please be cautious in making any travel plans, as the dynamic and volatile nature of the COVID pandemic has necessitated fast-changing policies from the government, in reaction to the emergence and spread of new, highly transmissible variants of COVID-19.

Q.8 : How do I access online learning for my subjects?

A: Check your student email for frequent updates from the Academic team and from your instructors to ensure that you can access the materials for your lessons and assessments.

Q.9 : How will I attend my classes online?

A: Just like you would do on campus, please check your email, Moodle, Google Classroom, and/or Blackboard programme each day. There you will find instructions on assignments, video meeting schedules and links, and learning resources.

Q.10 : I am studying a practical subject. How will I complete this online?

A: If you are enrolled in practical subject, said classes have been deferred and will be scheduled when we resume face-to-face classes.

Q.11 : Do I continue to submit my assessment via Turnitin?

A: A: Yes, all assessment should be submitted on Turnitin as per usual.

Q.12 : Will I still have access to the Library when I study online?

A: Yes, you will continue to have online access to your library resources as normal. We are also creating a dedicated Team for the Library so you can pose questions and get online responses to any questions you may have. In addition you may also refer to the Library circular which provides links to additional free online sources.

Q.13 : Will I be undertaking exams online?

A: Yes, assessments and exams have been redesigned for AY 20-21 to accommodate online methods. No students will need to undertake exams on campus.

Q.14 : Will my program change for AY 21-22?

A: The Senior High School programme will not change.

That depends on the government’s reopening of face-to-face classes. SISFU is prepared to continue delivering subjects online, through a Blended approach, or via Face-to-Face as the situation warrants. Any changes will be reflected in your school calendar and be communicated well in advance.

Even if SISFU reopens Face-to-Face classes, whether at full or reduced capacity, students will still have the option to study 100% online, should they so choose.

Q.15 : Will we still have Easter break?

A: Yes, there will be no online classes conducted during the period 29 March - 03 April 2021.

Q.16 : If any of my assessments change, how will the changes be communicated?

A: All changes will be communicated to Students via the subject/module lecturer and the Academics Office.

New and/or updated Front Sheets/Assessment Briefs will also be posted to Google Classroom/Blackboard.

The Office of the Dean communicates the schedule changes in submissions and the mode of assessments. Please always refer to Google Classroom announcements.

Q.17: Will Industry Placements be offered during Summer Break from June-August 2021?

A: CHED has not yet issued any additional guidance regarding the resumption of Industry Placements / Internships. Thus, only Virtual Internships can be permitted and sanctioned by SISFU at this time.
