General Assembly

SISFU Business Assembly

On December 2, 2022, the School of Business Club (SBC) held its first General Assembly. The event enabled the business students–from Senior High School to College—to know more about SBC and their future activities.

The hosts, Alena Calpo—SBC President—and Rick Niederberger—SBC Vice President, kicked off the event with a cheerful greeting. Then, Ms Kimberly Pedge, the Programme Head of SOBM, took the stage for her welcoming remarks. In her speech, Ms Pedge introduced the grandest student-led SBC project, the DMU Enhancement Week, and expressed her excitement about the club’s planned interactive activities.

After her short spiel, the hosts introduced their organization members: Alena Calpo as the President; Rick Niederberger as the Vice President; Prinz Arellano as the Secretary; Brent Espolon as the Treasurer; and Julia Buenaventura as the Public Relations Officer. This was followed by a short introduction about SBC and its aim to enrich the understanding of students about business-related topics to enhance their leadership and business management skills, which will help them thrive in many aspects of society. Through their talks and seminars, SBC intends to inspire students to know why they chose a business programme.

The hosts proceeded with the presentation of their Year Plan, which includes: Hospitality/Business Career Talk, a collaboration with HMCA; DMU Enhancement Week; SBC Capital Market, where students can learn more about stocks and investments; and Year End General Assembly. Additionally, they introduced their monthly activities, such as Monthly Business Quizzes and more seminars, talks, and workshops.

For the ice breaker, Brent tested the students’ knowledge on a general business quiz, with the top three winners earning a special prize! Then, the hosts welcomed Mr Leo Anoche, SBC Club Adviser, to the stage to deliver his closing remarks. Mr Anoche began by expressing how thrilled he is to see the students’ love for business, as well as hearing about their personal aspirations. Then, he talked about SBC’s commitment to help students articulate where they want to be in the future, what they want to do, and what they want to be. As he quoted, “SBC is about you! We are here for you!”

To officially close the event, a photo opportunity was done as the hosts thanked everyone for attending.

Congratulations to SBC for their first successful General Assembly! Make sure to follow their Facebook page (SISFU Business Club) and Instagram (@sisfubusinessclub) for more updates on their upcoming events!
