SISFU Delivered Online Orientation for the Parents of the New SISFU Paladins

On the afternoon of Thursday, July 15, 2021, SISFU held its yearly orientation for the parents of the university’s newest members of the SISFU Family.

Hosted by Mr Daniel William Steel, he opened the event by giving the parents and members of the SISFU community a warm welcome to the country’s premier transnational university.



Afterwhich, the Opening Remarks were delivered by Dr Melva M. Diamante, SISFU President wherein in her speech, she discussed the unique value of studying in SISFU, the huge merits of taking an international curriculum—which allows them to become globally competitive; and the warm and inviting community that SISFU has fostered for 23 years, and counting. She also emphasised on the services that SISFU provides to allow students to be the best version of themselves, holistically develop their skills and competencies regardless, and provide them with the utmost care—whether they are studying virtually or on-campus.



For the first part of the event, the parents were introduced to the passionate SISFU community headed by: Mr Daniel W. Steel—SGEN Director for Communications; the University Registrar—Dr Caroline F. Mediodia; the administration staff led by Miss Cristina Aguilar-Borja; and the academic support department, led by Dr Jerry A. Aguilar, SGEN VP for Academic Support and Marketing. A brief orientation, given by all, with regards to school policies, the school’s COVID-19 guidelines, student support, the wonderful people who will be there to support them, and school requirements that their children should follow throughout their stay in the university were delivered.

A brief screen break was provided to the parents to give them an opportunity to rest their eyes before the start of the second part of the orientation.



For the second part of the event, a short talk on academic rigour was given by Dr. Marjorie S. Gutierrez-Tangog, SGEN VP for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and SISFU Academic Consultant. This is key in the development of their children during their studies in the academe for SISFU takes pride in the ability of its learners to critically think and produce top quality work.



After the insightful talk, the parents listened to the academic orientation for the SOBM, SOHM, and Senior High School departments, led by SOBM Programme Leader, Miss Kimberley L. Pedge; SGEN VPAA and SISFU Academic Consultant, Dr Marjorie S. Gutierrez-Tangog; and Senior High School Principal, Mrs Maria Ailene Q. Fulgencio respectively. After the orientation, Mr Daniel Steel held a brief question and answer session to address all the concerns by the parents.



To close the event, the Closing Remarks were delivered by Dr Marjorie S. Gutierrez-Tangog talked about the importance of keeping in touch with the new parents during these uncertain times and that their doors are always open for them and their children if they have any concerns.
