Making an International Mark: A DMU-SISFU Success Story

With the many trials a student faces during their collegiate years, it is hard to fathom that graduation is only the beginning of another more challenging phase in life: working. They say that working, an essential part of “adulting”, is even more difficult than being a student, especially in the early stages of job applications and interviews. While this seems to be the case for most, our recent graduate shares how her experiences at SISFU have helped her sail through these challenges leading her to international career success today.

Ms. Genevieve Gozalo, SISFU alumna is a two-time graduate of the school. First, she graduated with a Pearson BTEC HND in Business Marketing in 2022. Later on, she earned her BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management from De Montfort University with First Class Honours in 2023. Currently, she is a Junior Project Manager for global technical solutions group Planate Management Group, LLC. A leading provider of facilities engineering and installation management services, Planate Management provides much-needed technical solutions to difficult environments worldwide, with offices all over the Americas, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia. At the moment, she is based in Guam, USA handling special accounts in her region.

"I turned to SISFU with one goal: to earn a college degree. SISFU's education, from OBL to earning my degree, has provided me with a diverse skill set tailored to my career. It has given me confidence in facing all career aspects with humility which keeps motivating me to succeed both locally and internationally.

In looking back at how SISFU has contributed to her success today, she credits the strong bond between students, faculty and administration. "SISFU is a home! I love how competitive and collaborative the environment was yet it still felt safe and supportive, both in physical and online classes. The professors generously shared their knowledge and expertise, becoming mentors who played an important role in my success."

Paired with her hard work and dedication, the skills Genevieve gained from SISFU have proven crucial to her role today. “SISFU has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of my field, including specialized skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, and leadership which are all significantly crucial in navigating the complexities of my career.”

When asked what advice she would give future graduates and current Paladins, she says “to fully immerse yourself in the learning experience. Do not hesitate to take advantage of all the resources available, engage with your peers and professors, and proactively seek opportunities for growth and development. Network, build relationships and consistently aim for excellence!”

SISFU is proud to call Genevieve as one of our own! Her inspiring story will surely help uplift the spirits of every avid learner and is a testament to the world-class education we strive to give our students. We wish her continued success in her chosen field as she will surely make a lasting impact anywhere she goes.
