International Career Fair 2023
To empower Southville students and alumni in jumpstarting their careers in hospitality and culinary arts, they were invited to attend Southville International School Affiliated with Foreign Universities (SISFU)’s international career fair last February 17, 2023. This event ensures Southville attendees placements in Marriott Hotels & Resorts, one of the biggest hotel chains in the world.
Dr. Nancy De Guia, SISFU’s Dean of Academics and SISC’s Dean of the Institute of Tourism, and Ms. Lorna Gamboa of Student Affairs prepared the applicants by imparting some words of encouragement and tips to make a great first impression. Their years of work experience served as a great tool in settling down the graduating students and fresh graduates so that they can put their best foot forward.
Mr. David Causer, Director of International Business Development for Global Educational Concepts, prefaced the event by sharing more than just an overview of their agency’s role in visa processing for individuals. He tackled the expectations and actual experience of those who have already started their internships and are working in the US. Without hesitation, he emphasized that this 12-month programme is a gateway to many great opportunities abroad and locally.
While this programme’s focus is to create an invaluable experience for trainees, they are also expected to have a return on their investment within just the first few months of their internship.
The host organization for this cultural exchange programme, Marriott Gaylord Opryland Resort, generously shared the work ethic they foster in all their properties around the globe. While they maintain their commitment to diversity, they unite in their value for people and quality service.
Gaylord Opryland Resort is the mothership of Marriott’s properties and their largest resort, hence they are excited to train more young hospitality professionals in the front desk and the F&B sector. They are strong in their resolve to prepare interns in their respective fields and they are ecstatic to have SISFU and Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) students take on the challenge. Marriott representatives also met with our students individually to get to know their future interns and to answer any of their queries.
